Customer Chronicel Month of April 2013

THE CUSTOMER CHRONICLE
April 2013
Melaleuca Product Stories
Over the past few years I’ve witnessed frown lines developing between my eyebrows that give me an angry look. In January I started using the SEI BELLA LUXURY CREME CONCENTRATE each night and I noticed that those unsightly lines have become less prominent. I look a little nicer!-Julie B.-MA
~~
A few months ago, my 88-year old father commented to me that he was suffering some shoulder pain. When I went to visit him a few weeks later, I took some PAIN-A-TRATE to him. He did not have the pain anymore but I left it with him anyway. Well, this past week I talked to my mom (86) and dad and learned that dad had strained his shoulder recently and remembered to use the PAIN-A-TRATE at night. The pain was gone by the next morning. He also has an elbow that took the brunt of a fall many years ago and was pulverized. Only recently has he started to feel pain with it so he again rubbed the PAIN-A-TRATE in and voila- the pain was gone! My mom called me to tell me she had slept in a crooked position the other night that resulted in a stiff neck. You guessed it- PAIN-A-TRATE to the rescue!-Cindy B.-CO

MELALEUCA’S TOOTH POLISHES
Oral care affects more than just the health of your mouth. A report by the Surgeon General called the mouth, “a mirror of health or disease”, stating that it is “the center of vital tissues and functions that are critical to total health and well-being across the life span”. Numerous studies have backed the Surgeon General’s statement, proving that neglecting the health of your mouth may have dire consequences for the rest of your body.
Bacteria: The Root of the Problem
Plaque. Tarter. Cavities. Periodontal Disease. These terms are probably familiar to anyone who has visited a dentist, but what’s not commonly known is they all share a common cause- bacteria, and more often than not a specific type of bacteria known as S. mutans. S. mutans ferment the sugary foods we eat to produce lactic acid. In the same way that acid rain corrodes, this bacteria-generated acid can literally dissolve tooth enamel through a process known as demineralization.
What Do Typical Products Do About the Problem?
Most toothpastes and other oral health aids use ingredients like fluoride to combat plaque and tartar. While fluoride is effective at strengthening the tooth enamel and helping it to resist demineralization, it does little to fight the bacteria that cause the problem. Some toothpaste manufacturers add an antimicrobial ingredient known as triclosan to fight bacteria. While triclosan is very potent, it takes a shotgun approach to bacteria, killing off beneficial bacteria along with harmful forms. Fortunately, there is a safe, all-natural way to fight bacteria and maintain a healthy mouth- the MELALEUCA DENTAL CARE SYSTEM.
Gentle Cleansing and Bacteria Killing
Melaleuca’s tooth polishes take the natural approach to keeping bacteria in check using a combination of three ingredients with a long history of antimicrobial uses:
Ø Melaleuca Oil: Long recognized for its powerful, natural properties, Melaleuca Oil not only boosts the natural cleansing power of each tooth polish, it also helps target harmful bacteria. In a study conducted in 2003, Melaleuca Oil was tested against 161 isolates of oral bacteria, including S. mutans. After just 30 seconds, Melaleuca Oil caused a decrease in bacterial viability, and after 5 minutes no viable organisms were detected.
Ø Propolis: Propolis is a resinous bee product composed of flavonoids, well-known plant compounds that have antibacterial properties. A study conducted at the University of Rochester Medical Center found that subjects who used propolis experienced a 61.7% reduction in the concentration of dental plaque compared to a placebo.
Ø Myrrh: A large shrub that grows in the Middle East, ancient Greek and Roman physicians used myrrh extensively to treat wounds because of its excellent antimicrobial properties.
OTHER PARTS TO THE MELALEUCA DENTAL CARE SYSTEM
Dental Floss- This extra-strong, waxed material glides easily between teeth without fraying. For extra protection, it’s coated with pure Melaleuca Oil to help interrupt bacteria growth.
Breath-Away Mouth Rinse’s bacteria-fighting formula is charged with T36-C5 melaleuca oil, propolis, and myrrh to deliver a triple blast of freshness, but is alcohol-free. So it is safe for the whole family.
Hot Shot and Cool Shot Breath Spray- A quick blast of cinnamon or mint instantly refreshes your mouth while Melaleuca Oil, propolis, and myrrh attack the bacteria that cause bad breath.
NOTE: DON’T FORGET ABOUT MELALEUCA’S TOOTHBRUSHES. THEY ARE THE PERFECT COMBINATION OF A HARD AND SOFT BRUSH THAT REALLY GETS YOUR TEETH CLEAN.
What Would you do with an Extra $100 in your Pocket?
Buy a new summer outfit, get a manicure/pedicure, go out for a nice dinner, take your family out for a day of fun? Melaleuca has a great promotion going on from April 1-16th. You can use Rustic Touch Furniture Polish on all your stainless steel appliances to remove fingerprints and repel them from coming back.
A Different Way of Doing Business?
Have you ever wondered why Melaleuca has a minimum shopping order? Even though Melaleuca is a billion dollar company they are competing in the consumable goods marketplace with Proctor and Gamble, Colgate Palmolive, Johnson and Johnson, etc. All of these companies are multi, multibillion dollar companies. They literally own the shelf space in stores, so as a smaller consumable goods company they are almost impossible to compete with.
When Melaleuca opened their doors 27 years ago their mission was to help people get better, safer products in their homes at reasonable prices. Even though their products were what you would normally find in a small, expensive health food store, they wanted to compete price wise with these bigger companies. They knew, in order to survive in the marketplace, they would have to be creative in the way they set up their company.
1. They decided they would cut out the distribution center (the store). Melaleuca ships their products directly from the manufacturing plant to their customer’s door steps.
2. They decided to do no formal (and costly) advertising. Melaleuca wanted to benefit their customers the most, so they decided to pay their customers for advertising for them and doing word-of-mouth referrals.
3. They decided to build their business model around a common marketing term called JIT Manufacturing. JIT stands for “Just in Time” manufacturing. When Melaleuca can count on their customers to shop monthly with them it allows them to put into practice the JIT manufacturing and do three things:
o Buy their expensive, plant-based ingredients in bulk and cut down on the cost
o Project out the inventory they will need for up to three months, which significantly reduces waste and storage space
o Guarantee the freshness of their products to their customers
Melaleuca has figured out that it saves the company 17-21% monthly to manufacture this way. They also save a significant amount since they don’t do any normal advertising or distribution through stores.
With all this in place, Melaleuca is able to compete in the marketplace and still offer their customers some of the most high-end, effective, environmentally-friendly products in the marketplace and offer them at a 30-40% discount off the retail price to their loyal customers. It has become a perfect partnership between the customer and the company.

Mosquito Repellent and Other Outside & Animal Tips! :*)

GREAT TIPS! Enjoy! :*)

Insect Repellent - Mix 2 tablespoons of Sol-U-Mel and 16 oz. of water. Spray it into the area where people are present. Use regular, diluted Sol-U-Mel and spray it on your skin and clothes.

Or, mix two caps Sol-U-Mel with 10 to 15 drops T36-C5 Pure Melaleuca oil into 16 oz spray bottle of water. You can spray this on adults and children, on their skin, clothes etc. You can also spray it around doors, on screens, on trees and garbage cans etc.
For an excellent mosquito spray that will not harm your family, combine one teaspoon of Tough & Tender with one capful of Sol-U-Mel and I capful of Renew Bath Oil in a 16-ounce spray bottle filled with water. Just spray it on and wipe off with a soft cloth.

An Alternative would be to blend 2 oz of Sol-U-Mel with 5 drops of T36-C5 and 1 teaspoon of Tough & Tender in 16 oz of water. Spray this mixture around doors, on screens or trees and garbage cans, etc...
An excellent insect repellent for adults is made by combining 5 ounces of Moisturizing Hand Creme with 4 ounces of Renew Bath Oil and 4 ounces of Sol-U-Mel. For best results, put this solution on all exposed skin a couple of times each hour. NOTE: Some prefer to simply use 1 teaspoon of Moisturizing Hand Creme with 5 drops of T36-C5.

Different body types respond to different insect repellent formulas. Don't be afraid to experiment and find your own solution and then pass it one. Some people have said that even taking the Melaleuca vitamins has stopped mosquito bites.
One of the most important things to remember when using the Melaleuca products is that they are NOT pesticides and therefore will not stop the varmints from landing on you. The products will deter them and greatly reduce the incidence of bites and the reaction that accompanies them.
Melaleuca’s products also do not make you feel like you need to take a shower after you use them. They are enhanced by frequent use and your skin will be healthier because of it.

Spray Tough & Tender around outdoor lights to keep insects from flying around the lights.

Place a bucket full of water and Tough & Tender very close to a light on your patio and leave it all night. You will be amazed how many bugs you will collect in one night.(
Use just enough T & T to make some suds)
FOR BITES - Use Mel-a-Gel First Aid gel on bites, especially if they have already been scratched at from itching.
Melaleuca Lip Balm also works like magic on mosquito bites. It stops the itching almost immediately.
For further relief, use Renew Skin Lotion.
For bee and wasp stings apply T36 C5 or Mela-Gel every 15 minutes for 4-6 applications to prevent infection. Takes the pain out very quickly and promotes healing.

Poison Ivy or Poison Oak - Use DermaCort to take the sting out of poison ivy, hives, and rashes.

If you get in contact with Poison Ivy or Poison Oak, immediately clean the area with Antibacterial Liquid Soap. Pat dry, then apply T36 C5 followed by Renew. Mela-Gel is also helpful.
sunburn - For sunburn apply T36 C5 and/or Mela-Gel to sunburned area and reapply as needed. Follow up with After Sun Hydrogel E.
To protect lips and skin, use Melaleuca Lip Balm and Sunblock-SPF 15 or 30.
GARDEN CARE
Diluted Sol-U-Mel is very effective to rid your yard of crickets, all sorts of crawling bugs. For flowering bushes, spray liberally and then cover with a plastic bag overnight. Spray into the air, indoors and outdoors, as an insect repellent.
Tough & Tender diluted and used in a lawn sprayer unit makes an excellent bug spray.
Mix 1 cup of Lemon Brite dish liquid soap and 1 cup of already mixed Breath-Away Mouthwash into a 20 gallon hose-end sprayer and soak your lawn, garden beds and trees to the point that the fluid is running off. Bugs hate it! This will also remove dust, dirt and pollution from grass blades, making any lawn fertilizer work twice as well.
Aphids, Fungus, Mold on Rose Bushes, Crepe Myrtles, Zinnias etc.
Use Sol-U-Mel in a spray bottle, mixing it a little stronger than recommended on the bottle. Spray around the immediate area and at the base of the plant and repeat as needed. It has also been found that a 3% solution of Tough & Tender is effective for killing aphids and stopping the onset of mildew on rose bushes without damaging the plants.

Tomatoes, Rhubarb, fruits and vegetables - Add 1/8 cup of Tough & Tender to a 5-gallon water can and water the soil around the tomato plants every other day. They will need about three applications. It will get rid of the blight, and you will have delicious tomatoes from your “mini forest.” (Spraying the tomato plants themselves does not seem to work.)

Spray diluted Tough & Tender on rhubarb and other fruits and vegetables to get rid of aphids, ants and other bugs, without harming the plant.
Weed Killer - Mix 1/4 cup Tough N Tender with 1 gallon vinegar and 2 cups salt - apply to trouble spots.

Apple Spray - Spray apples in the orchard with one bottle of Renew Bath Oil mixed with 5 gallons of warm water.

Trees and bushes - Spray diluted Tough & Tender on trees to prevent scale and other bug challenges.

Use Sol-U-Mel in a 1:5 solution to spray your fruit trees, shrubs, and other plants. It wipes out the aphids, ants and all the other bugs that you do not want eating your garden.

Fertilizer and Lawn Spray - Diluted Tough & Tender is an excellent fertilizer for rose bushes. Also, spray your lawn with a diluted mixture of Tough & Tender in a lawn sprayer unit. It will kill the little gnats as well as mushrooms that grow in your yard.

Mold - With a 1:5 mixture of So-U-Mel , spray the moldy areas around the foundation of your house. This will also work well for mildew and musty areas in your garden where mushrooms crop up.

Soil Surfactant - Putting Tough & Tender in the ground before you plant your garden in the summer will help the water stay in the ground when it gets hot and there is no rainfall.

Disinfectant - Occasionally you will need to disinfect your pruning sheers to keep mold spores from spreading. The Anti-Bacterial Liquid Soap will do an excellent job and clean your hands as well.

FOR YOUR HOME & COOKING NEEDS
Houseplants - For general cleaning of leaves, or to treat brown spots on leaves, clean with a diluted solution of Tough & Tender. For the latter, pour or spray the same solution around the base of the plant.
Ant Killer - Spray concentrated Pre-Spot Plus on the areas where ants congregate, such as on the kitchen counter. Be aware of the surfaces of these areas when using Pre-Spot Plus as it can take the finish off some wooden floors. You can also use Tough & Tender to kill ants, but it does not seem to last as long.

An alternate idea is to combine 1 ounce of MelaMagic and 1 ounce of Sol-U-Mel in a 16 oz. bottle with water – works well with large black ants.
ANT PREVENTION- Simply spray the most likely areas with 2 ounces of Sol-U-Guard combined with 16 ounces of water.
BARBECUE GRILLS- Soak your barbecue grill in a solution of 2 tablespoons of MelaMagic in 1/2 gallon of water. Clean it with a brush. For the outside of the grill, use 1 tablespoon of Tough & Tender and 16 ounces of water in a spray bottle and scrub with a soft brush. For baked on areas, use 1 ounce of MelaMagic combined with 8 ounces of water. Let it soak for a few minutes before scrubbing and rinsing.
Fruit and Vegetable Wash - Tough & Tender - 1 teaspoon in 16 ounces of water. Use this concentration to wash fruits and vegetables; rinse before serving. Or let vegetables set for 10 minutes in a sink full of water with 1 teaspoon of Tough & Tender. Place them on the sink strainer and rinse before serving or refrigerating.
Another option is to use Lemon Brite dishwashing soap to wash fruits and vegetables. Rinse before serving.
for healthy pets & animals

Fleas - For general protection, wash all bedding in washing machine with 2 capfuls of Sol-U-Mel and 1/8 cup MelaPower. Add 2 oz. of Sol-U-Mel to 16 oz. of water in trigger sprayer and apply to areas where dog or cat rests to repel fleas and deodorize. Add a capful of Sol-U-Mel to bath water as well.
ticks on Dogs & Cats - To remove embedded ticks, apply a drop of T36-C5 to a cotton swab and dab on the tick and on the site where it is embedded. Then grasp it slightly on the very edge and keep giving it a good pinch with the tweezers (as if biting it, but do not pull or yank out or it may break off with the head still embedded under the skin). In a few minutes, the tick will usually let go and back out. Reapply if necessary. If it does not release, gently rock with tweezers and apply more tea tree oil to it. Bathe the animal in ProCare pet shampoo.
Note: When pulling ticks off your dog or cat, always have a barrier between your hand and the tick itself. Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever can be transmitted.
Fly Repellent (Livestock) - Mix 2 oz. of Sol-U-Mel with 16 oz. of water. Spray directly on the animal. As mentioned above, works effectively on fleas as well.

Hamsters, Gerbils, Guinea Pigs - To control odor in or around a small animal's cage or to prevent communicable diseases, dab T36-C5 or spray a 1:20 diluted solution of Sol-U-Mel to the area 2 or 3 times each week.

Parakeets, Canaries or Tropical Birds - To prevent diseases among birds, use a 1:100 dilution of Sol-U-Mel sprayed once per week to the absorbent fodder material on the bottom of the cage. Spray each time the fodder is changed. WARNING! Some exotic birds are sensitive to the aromatic oils in T36-C5.

Rabbits - To clean their cage, mix 2 oz. of Sol-U-Mel with 16 oz. of water. Spray on cage and on the bottom tray to clean and deodorize. Scrub clean with brush. Rinse with water.

Are your kids safe from the "Bathroom-Toxin-Demons"?? Read your Labels

I'm sure by now we are all aware of the current lawsuit that Johnson and Johnson and Wal-Mart are facing due to using toxic chemicals in their childrens shampoos and babywashes! For those of you that are not please read this article carefully and then check your bathroom cupboards!

“If you purchased Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Shampoo or Wal-Mart brand Equate Tearless Baby Wash, you may want to stop using it. A class action lawsuit has been approved this month that claims these products may contain a toxin linked to cancer.

The class action lawsuit, filed earlier this year, accuses Johnson & Johnson and Wal-Mart Stores of selling shampoo and baby wash that allegedly contains methylene chloride, an ingredient banned by the FDA in cosmetics because it’s linked to cancer. The law firm that filed the lawsuit is also investigating Target’s Night-time Bath and Body Wash, which is not currently named in the suit.

A third Johnson & Johnson plant is now also under investigation for alleged quality concerns. The new Johnson & Johnson plant is one that manufactures Pepcid and Mylanta among other products. You can read the details on that investigation at Legafi.” from Top Class Actions ~ Legal Lawsuits

This information is outragous and is the reason our team with Work at Home United and Live Total Wellness works so hard to educate those around us! I am adding a list of known children's hygene products that are known to have toxic chemicals in them.
A new study from the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics found that many baby bath products contain formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane, which are both linked to cancer and skin allergies. The campaign notes that products with formaldehyde levels over 500 parts per million require warning labels in Europe, although not in the USA.
While all of the following products were tested for 1,4-dioxane, only 28 were tested for formaldehyde.
Product Name and Company 1,4-dioxane (in parts per million) Formaldehyde (in parts per million)

Now that you've read and Hopefully gotten to print off this list... What toxin-demons are hiding in your bathroom? I'd like to share a little story with you, I changed the names but I'd like to share it with you because of the impact it made to me and every time I walk down the childrens isle at the grocery store it's made me realized how blessed I've been.

“Why should a three-year-old boy have died a lingering and horrible death after swallowing three ounces of hairconditioner? Two weeks after drinking the liquid, which contains ammonia, the little boy died. And why should a seven-month-old little baby-girl have died? She crawled through a puddle of spilled laundry bleach which gave her third-degree burns on 50% of her tiny body, and burned her lungs from the fumes as well. It took her four agonizing days to die”

If you want to learn more about how to keep your children safe email me anytime at workathomeunitedbrandy@gmail.com Myself and our amazing Team are here to teach you safer alternatives to keep yourself and your children safe. Lets all work together and “stop poisoning our children!” After all we wouldn't leave a loaded gun under our sink either would we? What a silly question. But these products can be just as deadly. Educate yourself and we are here to assist you.
