7 Ways to Pick Up Extra Cash for the Holidays

Is the holiday season looking a little bleak for you? If you need a small cash boost before Christmas, there are some ways to get that extra money in time to go Christmas shopping.
1. Write some articles. If you are a decent writer, you can pick up some work at iWriter or Content Authority in time for the holidays. While neither of these sites pays much for starting out, if you do a good job, you can move up to higher paying articles fairly quickly and both pay once a week if you reach the minimum amount ($20 for iWriter, $25 for Content Authority).
2. Sell old toys. Why not clear out the closets in preparation for the new year? Take all the clothes, toys and other odds and ends that you’re not going to use and list them on eBay, Craigslist or hold a yard sale. Folks who are looking for Christmas gifts on the cheap might be interested in taking them off your hands and you’ll have cash for Christmas.
3. Watch someone’s kids. This time of year, people need a little extra childcare so they can get out and do some shopping, decorate the house, etc. Offer to do it for a reasonable fee and you can make a bit of extra money.
4. Clean houses. Not the most glamorous of jobs, but offering your services in the area of cleaning is perfect for this time of year. Most people want to deep clean their home before they decorate or have a family dinner. You can also offer decorating services, particularly for those who are physically unable to put lights and tree up. Leave your number so they can call you for cleanup after the parties, too.
5. Christmas shopping service. Plenty of folks hate Christmas shopping, so if you don’t mind it, you can cash in on that. They can give you the list of what they want and the money and off you go. Charge a fee for the service and then double up on clients when you shop.
6. Teach classes. Have some fun holiday crafts or recipes that you could teach others to do? Set a minimum limit so you can be sure to earn enough and include the cost of supplies in the price. You can usually teach out of your own home and the sky is the limit. Think of things that people can give as gifts to make the workshops particularly appealing.
7. Get a temp job. If you’re willing to work outside the home, this is the perfect time of year to grab a position in a store that needs help for a month while sales are high. You may be able to work from home, as well, as customer support over the phone or Internet.
Do you have a surefire way to boost the budget in December?
